705. The House of Mental Health - Amager

Islands Brygge/Amager/Ørestad

  • Children friendly

Open house and guided tour i The House of Mental Health in the former Sctt Elisabeth Hospital from 1905.

When you enter the House for Mental Health, you will be greeted by a 350 sqm fresco - a pictorial story of the life and legend of Saint Elisabeth of Thuringia. The decoration was created by the artist Jais Nielsen in 1928 and was donated by the Ny Carlsberg Foundation. The former hospital now houses the House for Mental Health – Amager, a collaboration between the region, municipality, and civil society – to create opportunities for recovery for people with mental illness. In the house, we are all co-creators, and art and community are highly valued. In the evening, you can get a tour of the Elisabeth Frescoes, sing with the choir, read with the reading association, visit the patients’ own place Maskine, Maskine Amager, and meet the Cente
