Located right in the middle of Strøget, the Church of the Holy Spirit invites you to Culture Night 2026 under the theme of SPIRIT. Throughout the evening, the church provides a setting for music, conversation, song, reflection, and community. The program ranges from carillon music ringing out over the city rooftops and concerts by the Sankt Annæ girls' choir to organ music, moments of silence, and Bible readings focused on spirit and faith.
There will also be an opportunity for drop-in baptisms in the sanctuary early in the evening.
The theme of SPIRIT is explored through the music, the spoken word, and the atmosphere within the church—creating a sense of human connection and inviting reflection.

A COMMON BREATH. When darkness falls on Culture Night, the church is filled with young voices and music about what we cannot always see – but can feel. Sankt Annæ Girls' Choir 5th-6th grades sing songs about the spirit in nature, in the church and between people. Come and experience light, sound and community in the church room.
VOICES OF THE SPIRIT FROM THE MIDDLE AGES TO THE PRESENT. The vocal ensemble Saint-Esprit performs a strongly sensual and spiritual program that moves through romantic and modern choral music. Excerpts from Gabriel Fauré's Requiem and works by Maurice Duruflé, Arvo Pärt and John Tavener.
Experience Messiaen's great organ work Les Corps Glorieux by organist Ørjan Horn Johansen and a reading of the texts on which the work is composed by priest Trine Vestersøe.
Ensemble PolyPhoeNyx performs Renaissance music centered on the spirit of the night—on darkness as a space for silence, longing, and reflection, but also for comfort, hope, and trust. In the madrigals and motets of the Renaissance, we encounter the night in many different guises.
An open, analog church space – without screens, mobile phones, demands and pace. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of Strøget and step into a room with high ceilings. Sit down with a book, write, draw, play chess or light a candle. Here there is room for silence, presence and good conversations. Sometimes the room is filled just with silence.
