Step inside Kristuskirken on Baggesensgade – Denmark’s oldest free church building and a special church space in the heart of Nørrebro. During Culture Night, the church opens its doors as a warm and peaceful haven under the theme “Light in the Darkness”, inviting guests to come in from the street, experience the atmosphere of the historic space and explore both the church and its story.
Throughout the evening, visitors can take part in simple activities at their own pace: light a candle for someone they care about, write an anonymous thought or prayer, join a small quiz about the history of the church, or find peace in the music as songs and hymns fill the room. There will also be an opportunity to join a 15-minute evening song at 8:00 p.m., 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., where everyone is welcome to sing along to hymns and songs. Children can take part in a creative bookmark workshop until 9:00 p.m., and there will be coffee, cake, juice and the opportunity for an informal conversation with a priest or volunteer. Kristuskirken is a place with room for curiosity, reflection, community and quiet.
