Experience the splendour of the absolute monarch’s ascension to the throne, as we bring Christian V’s Anointing Celebration to life at Rosenborg. Christian V was the first Danish king to be anointed after Denmark had introduced absolute monarchy in 1661, which made the event all the more extraordinary. At Rosenborg, you can join the public celebrations outside the castle and experience the royal preparations inside. Throughout the evening, Christian V will make appearances in his lavish anointing robes. In the castle’s Treasury, you can see the magnificent crown and beautiful regalia.
