For more than 30 years museums, theatres, libraries, town halls, churches, ministries, culture and arts halls and institutions have opened their doors to the public every year with totally out-of-the-way events one evening a year. With their commitment and participation, the organizers are the heartbeat of Culture Night and an important reason as to why it is such a huge and favourite event year after year.
But what is it like being an organizer on Culture Night and meetings one’s public in a completely different way? And what does Culture Night mean to the organizers?
Below you can read more about their thoughts and see pictures of the Culture Night magic.
”Culture Night is a very special evening with openness, a good atmosphere and a new brand of visitors. Here we can show who we are – also to a public we do not ordinarily get to meet.”
Nikolaj Kunsthal
”All the staff are here and the distinction between visitor and staff member disappears because everyone is part of the experience. And it is completely in keeping with our outlook that Culture Night is for everyone and that people from the entire city gather together here to meet our history, and sing, eat and be together.”
Workers Museum
”Culture Night enables us to be part of something bigger – a special cultural fellowship with the rest of Copenhagen, spanning events – and to create something special for our visitors different from what we do otherwise. ”
Danish War Museum
”We take history out of the display cases and bring it to life with the help of actors and mediators and make it relevant to Copenhageners today.”
