Since its start in 1993, Culture Night has been visually accompanied by a poster specially made for each particular Culture Night year. Every year a new artist creates his or her interpretation of the rich diversity represented by Culture Night and captures the theme or the overall spirit characterizing the event. Over the years colours and graphics and focus on light, play and education have changed, and each artist has put their own personal mark on our experience of what makes Culture Night unique.
In 2019 Family Culture Night was born, and it seemed natural that the children’s own Culture Night should also have its own poster universe. As in the case of Culture Night, the Family Culture Night poster is created each year on the terms of children. In cooperation with the Copenhagen Children’s School of Art it is the children at the school who suggest how they think the fairy tale and colourful universe of Family Culture Night can be embraced in the poster of the year.
The poster creates the framework for the visual identity for Culture Night and Family Culture Night every year. It is used in several connections, for instance, on the Culture Night Pass, on the front page of the programme and on adverts. At the same time each one on its own and altogether are a wonderful testimony to more than 30 years of unique Copenhagen cultural history which the organizers and the public have created together.
Dive into Culture Night’s more than 30-year-old poster universe and enjoy the amusing, colourful and very different examples of how Culture Night has been captured during the 90’s, the 00’s and the 10’s.
This year’s Culture Night poster can be downloaded here and by organizers here.
